Carriage House · South Side Flats, PGH
A historic carriage house in Pittsburgh's South Side. We host a small number of private events each year — our own, and occasionally someone else's.
The Building
The building was built to house carriages. It's spent a century becoming something else — absorbing the character of a neighborhood that doesn't perform for anyone. What remains is a space with texture: exposed brick, high ceilings, the kind of light that only comes through old windows.
It doesn't seat a hundred people. It doesn't have a loading dock or a commercial kitchen. What it has is atmosphere, and a courtyard that extends it. The people who gather here tend to notice both.
We use it ourselves — for dinners, workshops, gatherings of the Collective. A few times a year, we make it available to someone whose event belongs here. Not every request is right for the space. That's intentional.
Events
The space lends itself to gatherings where conversation is the point. Where the room doesn't need to disappear behind production. These are the kinds of events we've hosted, and the kinds of events that tend to work.
Coming Soon
The courtyard sits between the House and the Lofts, and it's currently in planning. The vision: a shared outdoor space where the building's two sides — residents and workspace — naturally come together.
In warmer months we expect it to become the main event, or an extension of one. String lights, original brick, the ambient presence of a neighborhood that's been here a long time.
When it's ready, it will belong to the residents as much as to any event we host. We're designing it with that in mind.
Process
We don't have an availability calendar or a booking form. The House isn't a venue for hire — it's a space we're protective of. What we have is a small number of dates each year that we might make available to the right event.
A note on selectivity: We host a limited number of private events each year, and we're thoughtful about which ones we take on. If the timing isn't right or the fit isn't there, we'll say so directly. It's not personal — it's just how we keep the space worth using.
Inquire
No booking system, no automated response. Tell us what you're planning and we'll read it personally. If the space seems right for it, we'll be in touch.
